Apply Now

EQUITANA Auckland is pleased to offer you the opportunity to present your demonstrations on your own or with another presenter in the choice of a classroom facility, a rubber matted arena for static demonstrations or a sand arena for presentations that require horses to be ridden or driven!

If you would like to apply together with another presenter and on your own with different topic areas please submit two applications (one application with the two presenters and another application on your own).

Please allow around 45 minutes to compete and review the application form.

Information from your application form will be included in our printed program and promotional material and it is important to promote your attendance in the best possible way.

It is best to save your answers in a Word document and copy and paste as you go to ensure you keep your own copy just in case anything goes awry! You can download a template of the questions in the form to assist you.

Only forms submitted online will be accepted. Ensure you complete ALL fields in the application. If you feel some are not applicable to you, please put ‘NA’ in text fields or ‘0’ in numerical fields.

Al Dunning – Horsemanship Star Presenter

Al Dunning is what you would call an all-round talent, earning the undisputed title as one of the world’s greatest horse trainers. Most of you would associate him with the sport of Reining, having achieved over 48 World and Reserve Champion titles individually and with his students but he also an incredibly talented coach, writer, trainer and mentor.

Al Dunning is recognized the world over for his incredible equine training talents and we are excited to have him as a Star Presenter delivering the Horsemanship Masterclass on Sunday afternoon at EQUITANA Auckland this year.

Al has been living and riding horses in Arizona since he was 8 years old and went on to further his skills with mentors such as Jim Paul, John Hoyt and Don Dodge.  Over the years, Al developed his multi-faceted business with a focus on the development of champion horses and riders. He has owned and operated “Almosta Ranch” in Scottsdale, Arizona since 1970 and his training and competition expertise has elevated him to great success around the world. “Almosta Ranch” is now the centre of a dynamic horse community, offering world class cutting horses for sale, as well as expert horse training.

Al has received multiple honors over the years including American Quarter Horse Association’s Professional Horseman of the Year in 1997, the NCHA Zane Schulte Trainer of the Year award in 2003 and Western Horseman Magazine’s Horseman of the Year in 2017.

Al trained and showed the great buckskin performance horse “Expensive Hobby”, which was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2007, was the recipient of the 1996 AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year and was chosen as the 2003 NCHA Zane Schulte Trainer of the Year.  He has also been president and Youth Advisor for the Arizona Quarter Horse Breeders Association, is an approved judge for the AQHA (judging the AQHA World Show 3 times) and was a member of the AQHA Team Wrangler. Al and Hobby were both inducted into the Arizona Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2016.

The wealth of training and riding knowledge that Al Dunning brings to the table is phenomenal, so don’t miss the opportunity to learn from a true master horseman at EQUITANA Auckland, November 21-24.

EQUITANA Auckland is bringing top educators from New Zealand, Australian and beyond who will be giving interactive workshops on everything from how to start a young horse, correct feeding practice, training, competition preparation, saddle fitting, pasture management, lifestyle block design, rider psychology and more. In a nutshell, it will be the A to Z in making your partnership with your horse the very best.
