It’s a triple whammy for the New Zealand Pony Club Association who have been named as the official community partner for EQUITANA Auckland. To add to the excitement, the NZPCA patron Sir Mark Todd is coming home for the four-day event, with Sunday November 24 (the last day of EQUITANA), free entry for all NZPCA members (who are accompanied by a paying adult). Sunday morning will play host to the inaugural NZPCA EQUITANA Team Club Challenge & NZPCA EQUITANA 1.1m Jumping Challenge with Sir Mark on hand to award the prizes. Entries open on September 23…
Following the championships will be a Sir Mark Todd clinic, featuring Pony Club riders in the Mercedes-Benz Junior Jump Rider. To add to the excitement, there is an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win a spot in the lesson. Applications open September 30…Head to the Pony Club page on the EQUITANA Auckland website for full details on how to enter!
After the Sir Mark Training Clinic, Pony Club riders will have the opportunity to meet their hero and get up close and personal for a selfie and an autograph. Sunday’s education programme will be heavily tailored to suit Pony Club riders with a chance to learn about what to look for when servicing a float, all about saddle-fitting, picking the right feed for your horse and so much more. The whole day is geared to be a real celebration of New Zealand’s very special Pony Club community.
EQUITANA event director Rod Lockwood says it was a natural partnership to align with the NZPCA.
“We are proud to support the future of New Zealand equestrian sport through our extensive competition and education programmes,” says Rod.
“Our partnership allows us to showcase the amazing talent and passion New Zealand’s young riders have for both their horses and their sport. EQUITANA will be the place to be for Pony Clubbers of all ages and we can’t wait to welcome you to our event.”
And the feeling is mutual. NZPCA chief executive Samantha Jones says the association is delighted and excited to be a community partner for EQUITANA Auckland.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our members to come and enjoy as well as maybe even take part in some of the world class offerings at EQUITANA,” she says.
“We are also delighted that our patron Sir Mark Todd will be there too.”
To top it all off all NZPCA members will be eligible for FREE entry on Sunday November 24. All clubs will be sent an exclusive access code to redeem their complimentary expo tickets online prior to the event and this code can also be used to purchase an upgrade to a Sunday ‘Horsemanship’ Full Day Ticket.
